Many
men may have erectile dysfunction, no matter their age. If you think that ED is
causing you embarrassment and frustration you might want to take a look at your
diet. Although several drugs, chronic stress, and an imbalance in the hormones
can contribute to erectile dysfunction, so can be your diet. There are certain
foods you should add to your daily diet if you're trying to fight ED. Within a
short period of time you should notice stronger erection, lasting longer in bed,
better over-all health, and an increase in energy and libido.
Omega-3 fatty acid
Try
to add more fatty acids in your diet. In this case, not all fats are equal
since fatty acids are different than what you would find in a steak or cheese.
These good omega-3s are found in salmon, pumpkin seeds, nuts and eggs, which
may help with ED, and can also combat hypertension, diabetes, arthritis and
other health problems.
Green vegetables
Your
mother was right when she said you should eat your vegetables, especially green
varieties; dark leafy greens such as kale, spinach and collard greens. These
vegetables are rich in zinc, which can help increase the flow of blood to the
organs. ED is usually the result of a decrease in blood flow, so eating green
vegetables per day could help. All you need is a cup or two each day.
Reduce sugar and fat
Cut
the excess sugar and fat from your diet as it can make a world of good.
Consuming large quantities of these empty calories can lead to many health
problems, including heart diseases, erectile dysfunction and obesity. The more
weight you're carrying the harder your body has to work to pump blood to your
major organs like your heart. Other organs such as the penis suffer as a result
and could get less blood flow, leading to erectile dysfunction. Whether natural
or man-made, cut in sugar and fat, period.
More potassium
Foods
that are rich in potassium may help reduce the effects of dietary sodium.
Potatoes, bananas, beans and other foods rich in potassium can lessen some of
this; in other foods you can eat sodium. It is also wise to set some of these
good foods in your meals since low levels of potassium in the body can lead to
high blood pressure and erectile dysfunction.
Red Foods
Foods
that are red contain good sources of lycopene, which opens up the blood vessels
so more blood can flow. Tomato sauce, strawberries and watermelon are good
sources of lycopene. Since there are two main chambers of the penis that
receive more blood flow, you want them to dilate as much as possible so that
you will have stronger erection; lycopene-rich foods can help.
Eat a rainbow of foods to Combat ED
Instead
of trying to remember every super food that is good for your health and combat
ED, do not forget to eat a rainbow of foods daily. Every time you come to look
at your plate, it seems mostly beige or brown you know you're not eating as
healthy as it should. The more colors, the more vitamins and nutrients your
body will get. In just a few weeks you may notice a big difference in your
mood, energy level, libido and the length and strength of your erections.
